Raga Varshini – Cascade of Melodies (Hindustani Music Orchestra)

This unique performance is a confluence of five different instruments featuring some of the top stars of the current generation of Indian musicians. Shujaat Khan who plays the Sitar belongs to the illustrious lineage of the late Vilayat Khan . Memorable performances at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Royce Hall in Los Angeles, Congress Hall in Berlin and with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra crown his international achievements. Joining him are Debashish Bhattacharya on the Guitar and Tarun Bhattacharyya on the Santoor. Debashish debuted at age four and has the honour of performing with the renowned musicians of the world : Ustad Zakir Hussain, John Mclaughlin , Martin Simpson, Bob Brozman, Rene Lacile, Takashi Hiriyasu, Lieu Fang, Julian Kytasty and many others. Tarun Bhattacharya , the well known santoor maestro of his generation, of the famous Maihar Gharana, has trained under sitar maestro Pt Ravi Shankar for the past decade. Accompanying them are the famous tabla player, Ustad Sabir Khan, who debuted at the age of nine and Guruvayur Dorai, who performs on the Mridangam in elegant, absorbing patterns. Both are prolific performers with senior artistes in India and overseas.
