Jugalbandi – North and South Indian Music Fusion

Pandit Ronu Majumdar, India ’s ace flautist, needs no introduction to music lovers all over the globe. His versatility with the artistic medium is an inspiration to his numerous followers and in 1999 he won the prestigious Aditya Vikram Birla Award.

Sangeet Samrat Ravikiran is a multifaceted genius – instrumentalist, vocalist, composer, pedagogue, author par excellence. He made headlines as the world’s youngest prodigy at the age of two, identifying 325 ragas and 175 talas. He switched over to the chitraveena when he was 12 and presented a record non-stop recital for 24 hours when he was 18. Today, he is renowned as one of the pre-eminent virtuosos in the world who has taken slide instrument techniques to unsurpassed heights. He is the winner of the Millennium Festival award in 2000.

These two masters will perform a Jugalbandhi (fusion of Indian Music) accompaniment by Sabir Khan on Tabla and Guruvayur Dorai on Mridangam.
