Chitra started learning Carnatic vocal at the Temple of Fine Arts under her first guru Smt. Rajalakshmi Sekar. In 2002, she did her arangetram, and has since performed in various temples and other arts institutions. She has also sung for various dance arangetrams for students of The Temple of Fine Arts both in Singapore and India along with her guru. With the blessings of her gurus, she had the opportunity to learn from Smt. Bombay Jayashree Ramnath and has been undergoing further training from her for the past two years.
