Gayathri Ganesan was initiated into Carnatic music by her Guru, Kallidaikurichi. She was formally trained under Shri M Sankaranarayanan for ten years. Now she is under the tutelage of Shri N R Prashanth of SIFAS.
She has performed in many concerts arranged under the auspices of Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha , VDS Arts of Academy and at the Sasthri Hall in Chennai. She has also performed for SIFAS.
She has won many prizes in competitions conducted by the Tamil Isai Sangam (Koteeswara Iyer Kritis-1999, Thiruvarutpa-1999, Thiruppugazh-2000).
