Neela Sitaram was inspired at a young age to pursue her interest in the Veena by her family. She began learning Veena at the age of 8 at SIFAS and is currently learning at Vaineeka Music. She has been the disciple of Karaikudi Smt Veenai Jayalakshmi Sugumar for the past of 11 years. Neela performed her Veena arangetram in 2004.
Sandhya Ramaswamy took her preliminary training in India under Mrs. Bhagirathi Thyagarajan & Mrs. Muthukrishna Iyer. She came to Singapore in 1998 and continued her Veena course under the tutelage of Smt Jayalakshmi Subramanian the then Veena teacher at SIFAS. From 2002, she has been learning under Smt Jayalakshmi Sugumar with Vaineeka Music. She did her arangetram in March 2006 in India.
They have both won numerous prizes and have given many performances.
