MASTERS GRADUATE AND SCHOLARSHIP RECEPIENT FOR KUCHIPUDI
Guru Atira Venugopalan is a Bharatanatyam and Kuchpudi dancer. She had her Bharatanatyam arangetram at the age of 12 under the tutelage of Kalamandalam Vinodini. Guru Atira holds a Bachelor’s degree in Malayalam from the University of Calicut and a Masters’ degree in Performing Arts (Kuchipudi) from the University of Hyderabad. She is a Kuchipudi disciple of Dr. Anuradha Jonnalagadda. Guru Atira was a recipient of a scholarship for young artistes for Kuchipudi, awarded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in 2002. TEACHING IN KERALA She was earlier an instructor at the Natyadarpana School of Arts in Kerala, teaching both styles of dance, and training students at the advanced stage of arangetram preparation. GRADED ARTIST OF DOORDARSHAN Guru Atira is a graded artist of Doordarshan, India. IN SINGAPORE In Singapore, Guru Atira has taught, performed and choreographed for a number of organisations, including Global Indian Cultural Centre, Nrityalaya Aesthetics Society, Jurong Jewels and GIG International School. She was a judge at the prestigious Singapore Youth Festival competition in 2005. SINGAPORE INDIAN FINE ARTS SOCIETY Guru Atira joined SIFAS part-time in June 2019. |
