ROOTS
Guru Nishita Joshi has been practising Bharatanatyam for over 15 years. She began her training at the age of seven and pursued six years of full-time professional training at the Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai. Deeply rooted in the Kalakshetra bani, her artistic vision is driven by a desire to introduce younger audiences to India’s cultural heritage through authentic classical dance.

THE KALAKSHETRA FOUNDATION
Guru Nishita holds a Diploma and Post Graduate Diploma in Bharatanatyam from the Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts, Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai. Her academic engagement includes a final-year dissertation on Dance Pedagogy in Kalakshetra, reflecting her strong grounding in both theory and practice.

FESTIVALS & PERFORMANCES
As a member of the Kalakshetra Repertory Company, Guru Nishita has performed extensively across India, including Amritam Gamaya, presented under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. She has featured in several acclaimed Kalakshetra dance dramas such as Choodamani Pradanam, Mahapattabhishekam, Koorma Avataram, Karna Shapatham and Shanti Sutra, and has performed at prestigious platforms including NCPA Mumbai and venues in Dehradun.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Guru Nishita is well-versed in the pedagogy of Kalakshetra-style Bharatanatyam. She has assisted senior gurus at Kalakshetra Foundation, conducted workshops and lecture demonstrations in schools and colleges, and currently trains young artistes through her art space, Kalambara, nurturing both technical excellence and traditional values.
