Guru Sitaravamma

ROOTS
Guru Sitaravamma Sandrasegaren learnt Bharatanatyam directly from Smt. Rukmini Devi Arundale, founder of Kalakshetra, and other senior artistes, and Kuchipudi from Guru Vempatti Chinna Satyam. Her father, renowned Carnatic musician, Sri Sitarama Sarma, founded Kalapeetham, an academy following a holistic approach to teaching, similar to Kalakshetra, in Chennai in 1985, and its traditions were initiated in Singapore by Guru Sita in 2002.


ARTISTIC ACHIEVEMENTS
Guru Sitaravamma  has choreographed and performed a number of dance dramas for national and international art festivals. She has worked as the Advisor to the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture as well as a conductor at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute in Mauritius. 

 
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
She has taught Bharatanatyam at Kalakshetra for over ten years and was a senior Bharatanatyam teacher in SIFAS as well for more than a decade. Well versed in the art of Nattuvangam, Guru Sitaravamma Sandrasagaren is one of Singapore’s finest Bharatanatyam teachers.
