Hailing from a musical family, Guru Supriyo Banerjee started learning Tabla from his father late Ganapati Banerjee. Under the tutelage of Tabla maestro Pandit Ananda Gopal Bandopadhyay, he has been taking lessons since 1991. TEACHING AND PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE He has worked as a Tabla teacher in Sakhri Begum Memorial Trust and accompanied Ustad Rashid Khan, also known internationally as a Youth Icon of Indian Classical music. He had received an honorary position and was recruited as a tabla teacher in Belur Math Veda Vidyalaya and has performed in many concerts within India such as Golpark Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Kolkata, Belur Math and internationally in Singapore, Malaysia and Germany. SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT He was also awarded the National Scholarship from Ministry of Culture, Government of India in 2007. He is an accomplished tabla player, dynamically adept as both a soloist and an accompanying artist for Hindustani, Carnatic, commercial, and fusion music, and has a unique style of playing which blends the different gharanas.
